We offer the following programs for additional religious education. Our programs are tailored to a child’s learning style to draw them closer to Jesus.
Children’s Faith Formation Program (CFP)
Children’s Faith Formation is much more than simply “teaching religion.” While each lesson provides the children with a comprehensive understanding of our Catholic faith, we believe it is just as important to learn how to live our faith and put our beliefs into action. Each week children will be challenged to put the Gospel into action. This important step will help the children to recognize that faith is not meant to be isolated or compartmentalized. Faith is meant to be lived. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6pm-7:30pm for kindergarten through fifth grades.

Sacramental Preparation Program (SP):
Kathy McKernan, 816-537-6990
This Program is designed to assist the Parents in the preparation of their children to receive the gifts of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Children attend classes September through early May. Children are of the age of seven or their second-grade year. Parents are invited to attend Parent Gatherings to help aid them in their child’s spiritual growth. We also have two Parent/Child Workshops about Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Each is filled with activities for the Parent and Child to grow closer to Jesus during this journey.
First Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated during the Lenten season.
First Eucharist: The Sacrament of First Eucharist (First Communion) is celebrated during the Easter Season at a scheduled Mass.

The Way: Youth to Young Adult Initiative from the Diocese of Kansas City/St. Joseph
The Way: Youth to Young Adult Initiative fulfills one of the last remaining goals of the diocesan Mutually Shared Vision, established in February 2019 following 18 months of listening sessions and committee discernment. The guiding vision, One Family: Restored in Christ, Equipped for Mission, included the goal to “craft a comprehensive youth to young adult initiative by November 2022.” The Early Christians were known as people of The Way (cf. Acts 9:2; 19:9; 22:4; 24:14). Ultimately, we know that it is Jesus himself who is the Way: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Now, this initiative provides resources to help parents guide their children along The Way. The end goal of the journey is for children to become mature disciples of Jesus Christ, to find their vocation, and commit to it wholeheartedly.

Children’s Liturgy Of The Word
Kathy McKernan, 816-537-6990
On Sundays at 10:30 Mass (September-May), children 3-7 years of age are dismissed from Mass to participate in a separate Liturgy of the Word designed for them. The program is led by volunteers from the parish community. The team is always looking for more volunteers. If you would like to help, please call Kathy at the Parish Office.
